Total spent was $35.17. I still have $43.00 Walgreens money left and also got 3 coupons for free Breathe Right strips from Walgreens. Total savings??? All receipts totaled up said I saved $364.74!!! If you can believe that. :)

Stopped at a garage sale:

Trip to the mall:

3. 1 pair of panties (free panty coupon in the mail)
   Total came to $1.59!

Trip to Meijer:

1. 15 Del Monte veggies
2. 3 Del Monte pineapple veggies
3. 5 100 calorie snack packs
4. 1 bag of cat food
5. 2 Huggies wipes
6. 3 Fast Shake pancake mix
   Total came to $1.86!! I used a $2.00 OYNO from earlier in this week from another order.

Here is a trip to Costco and Rite Aid that I made earlier in the week:

1. 5lb bag of potatoes at Costco
2. 1 gallon of milk at Costco
3. 10 VO5 shampoo/conditioner at Rite Aid
4. 2 Clean and Clear products at Rite Aid
5. 3 Snicker bars--one not pictured :)

Total at Costco came to $6.94. Total at Rite Aid came to $.06. I used the rest of my gift card on this order. Before gift card, the total was $6.35. I will be getting $5.00 back for buying the VO5.

Also pictured here is some stuff I got in the mail. I got two $10.00 gift certificates from Kellogg's. I also got 5 FREE (up to $4.00) certificates off any STAR product.

I also bought 2 different painters tape for Caleb to finish painting the house. This came to $5.08.

Budget total this week came to $72.01. I came just under my goal of $75.00 a week. Not too shabby. Not to mention, I was still able to do the deals and got lots of extras. Hopefully next week turns out just as good as this week did.

Something I am learning...money gets spent very, very quickly when you are trying to stay on a budget. I also have so much more to learn about all those "free" deals that I get. Yes, they are great deals, but the money still needs to be spent out of pocket in order to get the rebate/ECB/RR back. Whatever the case, I am definitely trying to get these deals figured out so that I can make them even better. :)

A lost tooth and a $.32 trip to Meijer!

First up is my amazing trip to Meijer. I will have to make one more trip yet this week since they were already out of the Del Monte veggies. And those are too good of a deal to pass up.

Here is what I got:

1. 1 7.5 lb of cat food on sale for $5.97 (should be the 3.5 lb but they were all out of that one)
2. 3 packs of Huggies wipes
3. 2 Cafe Steamers
4. 6 Grands biscuits
5. 12 Crystal Light packs
6. 1 pack of canning rings and lids (for Tara since her Meijer was out of them)
7. 5 packs of 100 Calorie boxes

Total came to $69.25 before coupons. After coupons and instore savings I paid $11.79. The cat food rang up wrong so I got $6.38 back at customer service. After Tara's canning rings purchase of $3.09, I will have paid $2.32! Plus I got a $2.00 catalina back for buying 6 Grands Biscuits. So after all is said and done it will have come to $.32!!! Woohoo! (I am still counting the cash out of pocket and recording $2.32 though).

Another lost tooth for Ambry! She was more than excited. :) Here is with her second tooth.

And rather than have to subtract money out of my $75.00, I went downstairs and pulled out a notebook and some sparkly markers for her treat. Perfect...or at least we thought so. :)

Since Sunday, that brings my spending up to $17.42.

I am starting the $300.00 challenge! Esther has been doing this for the last couple weeks and I have decided to jump in now and see how I do. My first day was yesterday and I have spent $15.10 so far. It could have been less if I wouldn't have been in such a hurry and forgot some coupons and didn't figure out each purchase correctly. Oh well.

Here is what I have gotten so far:

Rite Aid:

1. 3 packs of Huggies All Natural diapers
2. 2 packs Huggies diapers
3. 2 Sunday newspapers
4. 1 bottle Proantix--not pictured, but it is a free after rebate item, plus after coupon a $3.00 money maker!!

Total came to $18.71. I had a $25.00 gift card to Rite Aid from a previous rebate and used that to pay for it. After the $10.00 rebate on the diapers and the $6.99 rebate on Proantix, my total will be $1.72! Unbelievably awesome deal for diapers!!

Walgreens:

1. 1 package Carefree pads
2. 3 Sally Hansen nail polishes
3. 2 Scotch Brite scrubbies
4. 2 Thermacare
5. 2 Lolli-pops for the girls (fillers)
6. 1 Sunday newspaper
7. Chalk plaything (filler)
8. 4 erasers (fillers)
9. 2 Root Care moisturizers
10. 1 Aussie hair gel
11. 1 Aussie hair spray
12. 2 Oral B toothbrushes

I split these up over 5 different transactions. If I would have taken the time to figure it out, I could have spent even less. :( Oh well. Total came to $8.79. This was after coupons and RR's ($27.50 used and $32.50 back).

We also went out to lunch with Caleb at Wendy's and spent an additional $6.31. Boy oh boy, does this ever add up fast!

In case you are wondering, I have $75.00 in cash in my wallet--that is how much it comes to per week out of the $300.00. I am counting any type of food, drink, "deal" purchase, etc. all out of the $75.00 a week. The only thing I am not taking out of that amount is gas. We'll see how we do. Here's to hoping for a good week!

I came home tonight with, well, lots and lots of stuff much to the consternation of Caleb. A very frustrated and annoyed husband looks over deals and responds, "They don't need any of that!" Which of course refers to the kids. Which I then respond with, "No, but it is fun. And Piper's birthday is coming up. And I want to stock up for the garage sale." Excuses, excuses.

So my question to you is this: when does the stocking up and the deal grabbing become too much? When do you stop? And finally, HOW do you stop once you have started?

First up is Piper's birthday presents. Here is what I got.

A pack of playdoh normally $9.99 marked down to $2.24. Dora and Diego figures normally $12.99 marked down to $3.48. A twirly wand that she carried around with her everywhere in the store normally $4.99 marked down to $1.98. And lastly a "princess wand" that Ambry wanted to get her normally $2.99, marked down to $.98. A grand total of $8.68. I didn't think that was bad. I was planning for $10.00 for her birthday since I thought that was plenty to spend on a 3 year old's birthday.

So what do you think? I was already planning on bringing back one of the wands. One sparkly, twirly, fun light wand is plenty. Would you also return the Dora and Diego figures? Granted she really likes watching those shows and has a Dora bike now courtesy of Poppa and Grandma. Like I said, when is too much, too much?

And onto the HUGE purchase for the night. Here is what I got.

4 Partini games regularly $20.00 each, marked down to $5.00.
3 Hyper Jump games normally $14.99 each, marked down to $3.72
3 markers $1.00 each (they were the bright colors as opposed to primary...again begs the question when is too much, too much?)
1 Kids Mircroscope normally $39.99, marked down to $9.99
2 V-Tech games regularly $24.99 each, marked down to $6.22
1 slip and slide regularly $9.99, marked down to $6.99
3 Cranium Cadoo games regularly $15.00 each, marked down to $3.75 each (I didn't get charged for one of these but the coupon still came off without beeping. Crazy!)

Total normally for all this would have been $272.93!!! Yikes! But I ended up paying $21.08...HUGELY, GIGANTIC SAVINGS!!! (I used Target coupons on the games to get them so cheap.)
BUT, did I really need to get all of that? Did I really need to buy 4 Partini games instead of just one? Who cares that they were free? Insert a small but resounding "ME!" here. The Hyper Jumps were free...the Cranium games were free...and since these were below the $5.00 coupon, I made money for buying these!

And what makes it worse when I get home and put everything in it's place--because you have to have a place if you are going to buy that much stuff--is that I wanted to go and get more of all the things that I could get for free. Because in my mind it makes sense to get things if they are free. Nevermind that I will eventually run out of space. Nevermind that there are only so many birthday presents that you can stock up on.

Blah, blah, blah I say. Unfortunately Caleb doesn't agree with me. And this is where I need your input. Do I stock up on things when they are free? Is there such a thing as too much "free stuff"? What would you personally do? How do you draw the line on too much "free stuff"? I would definitely appreciate any comments you leave. Thanks ahead of time!!!

Oh me, oh my...I LOVE CVS and Walgreens! I hit up both stores this afternoon with the girls and left feeling oh so very happy.
Here is what I got at CVS:


I split up the order into two transactions. Transaction #1:

1. 3 Lypsyl products
2. 2 St. Ives lotions
3. 1 Garnier Fructis conditioner
4. 1 Colgate toothpaste

I used two .50 peelies from the St. Ives lotion bottles, .75 Colgate coupon, 1.00 Garnier coupon, $5.00/$15.00 CVS coupon, and 17.00 in ECB's. I paid .99 in cash and received back 18.96 in ECB's. Yeah!
Transaction #2:

1. 1 Garnier Fructis hair gel
2. 1 Venus razor
3. 2 Gillette skin care shaving gel
4. 1 Lypsyl

I used 2 1.00 Gillette shaving gel coupons (the product itself was on sale for .99 so these were free after coupons), 4.00 Venus razor coupon, 1.00 Garnier hair gel, 5 off 15 CVS coupon, and 4.99 in ECB's. I paid 1.45 in cash and received back 10.99 in ECB's!!! A very good deal.

So to conclude the CVS trip, I paid 2.44 in cash, used 21.99 ECB's, but got back 29.95 in ECB's! And got $43.48 worth of product! Excellent shopping excursion today. :)

Here is what I got at Walgreens:

1. 2 Oust odor sprays
2. 2 bags of cherries (the girls were hungry and I wanted them to have something healthy)

I used 2 B1G1 Oral B toothbrush, 2 1.00 Sally Hansen, 2 2.00 Oust, 3 2.00 Jane, 1 B1G1 Windex, 2 B1G1 Trident along with 2 B1G1 Trident Walgreens, 2 B1G1 Russell Stover along with buy 3 for 1.00 Walgreens, 2 Sunsilk 2.50, 3 2.00 Sunsilk, 1.00 Sunsilk coupons...I think that is all. :) I paid $8.38 in cash! I will still get 4.00 back after MIR too. It was so cool looking at the end result of savings too. Before sales and coupons? Total was 81.30! Yeah!!!

So there are my deals that I have gotten so far. Caleb was even happy with this one. He really wanted some of that Lypsyl. So my deals even made him happy this week. :) Happy deal hunting to everyone this week!

This past week I have lived in the house of sickies. Ambry ran a fever for 3 days, Piper had such a horrible cough and double ear infections, Caleb got the cold and a touch of the flu, and I have a horrible cough too. Hopefully with the start of a new week, everyone will start to get better.

Before coupons everything rang up to $52.51. After coupons my total came to $36.36(with tax). I had a Walgreens gift card from other purchases. My grand total out of pocket?

$.67!!!!! I don't know if you can count the gift card but I am...What I mean is that I put whatever rebates I get back on a gift card and I used that on this purchase. So maybe not quite as good a deal as I thought? I don't know. Either way I was extremely happy to only dish out $.67! I also got a mail in rebate for $4.00 back in register rewards that they couldn't print at the register for some reason. So I still have money coming back. Yeah!
On this trip to Meijer I got:

1. 4 boxes of Cheerios, reg. 3.19, on sale for $1.67 a piece
   
2. 2 grape jellys, reg. $2.09 on sale for $1.50 a piece
   
3. 3 loaves of Aunt Milly's bread, reg. $2.99, on sale buy 1 get 2 free

Total out of pocket before coupons was $18.13. After coupons and tax my total was $9.48. Not too bad since 2 Excedrin regular price without coupons would have cost that much. The only thing I didn't have a coupon for was the carrots. Oh well. I needed some of those anyway.

We made a trip to our a thrift shop near our house and I am sooo glad we did. We bought 2 books, a little ty beanie bear, a purple carebear that Piper would not let go of the entire time we were at the store, not even to let me pay for it, a barbie tea set, a towel holder for the main bathroom, a very ratty horse :(, the game Guestures, and my fav purchase? a very large tub of tinker toys. They are the plastic ones, but I thought it was too good a deal to pass up. Oh, and 2 bead necklaces for Ambry.
We got everything for $10.00! I thought it was a great deal. I probably could have bought more if the kids weren't ready to go home for lunch. I will have to go there again...maybe later! :) These deals make me miss garage sales so much but at least if you hit the day right at the thrift store, there are different parts of the store half off. Can't beat that.

That is it. Hopefully I will do better this month than last month. I have to admit though, that RIte Aid's rebate process is a lot better. Just go online and enter your receipt info and you're done. You will receive an email letting you know which items are valid. You can also enter more than one receipt. They have different deals there all month. Fun for me, although maybe not so much fun for others. Maybe you will find some good deals though that you just can't pass up. And if anyone knows where to find a Power Wheels for a good deal...PLEASE let me know! I'm having trouble finding one within a reasonable price range. Have a good Thursday!

And if anyone knows how to catch fruit flies, any advice would be GREATLY appreciated.

This is all stuff that I have gotten free in the last week. Pretty cool, huh?!! I love getting surprises in the mail. There have been a few other things I have gotten as well, but they were just little stuff. So let me remind you again, Fat Wallet is a great place to sign up for things. You may not get everything that you sign up for, but as you can see, you will get quite a bit. As I get other things, I will let you know. Don't really have anything too interesting going on here. Ambry is finally starting to get over her nasty cold, only now Piper has got it. Caleb also is coming down with something. Gerrit moved in over the weekend. I have never seen so much stuff in my life! His whole room downstairs is overflowing with stuff, our garage is filled up, and there is still stuff setting around our basement for him to put away. Unbelievable! Caleb said he even threw away a bunch of stuff. I didn't even know it was possible to have that much stuff. We are trying to sell his bedroom set for him too, so if anyone needs a queen size waterbed with dresser and side table, let me know!
