In Which I continue to hemorrhage the moolah...

Another $7.05 out the door. It bought me:

  1. 1 8 pk of girls nail polish kit
  2. 1 baby toy
  3. Rummikub (used, but all the pieces are there)
  4. 2 books (used. Gotta love Love, Inc.)
  5. 6 pks of Zany bands
  6. 2 dish towels
  7. 4 Andes mints (not pictured...the kids already scarfed those down)

So that makes my total for this week so far $84.14. Yowza! Total for the month is $267.78. That means if I stick to my $300.00 for the month, I only have $42.22 left...if my math is correct, anyway. :)

I think I am going to totally blow that $42.22 though since I totally forgot about Black Friday in there and there are some great deals at CVS and Wags. And you know I can't stay away from the deals!

The day I blew my budget...big surprise, right?
Here is the pic of what I got.

And here is the list of what I got:

  1. 12 packs of Huggies diapers
  2. 10 Right Guard deoderants
  3. 1 caramel candy (filler)
  4. 6 cans of MSG (just kidding)
  5. 2 packs of batteries
  6. 1 rotisserie chicken
  7. 1 package of celery
  8. 1 20# bag of potatoes
  9. 1 bag of potato chips
  10. Hummus (not pictured because I broke the container on my way to take the picture...grrr)
  11. Pickles (not pictured because I didn't want to break this too)
  12. Potstickers (not pictured....because I was too lazy to get it out of the freezer)
  13. 2 Hellman's mayo
  14. 2 Kid-Eeze medicine
  15. 4 Vick's Synex
  16. 2 Zantac (I sell this to my neighbor for $3.50 a piece)
  17. 4 Ecotrin
  18. 3 Gain dish detergent

Between Costco, Meijer, Walgreens, and Rite Aid, I spent a grand total of $77.09. Huge ouch! But my total savings was $204.59...at least according to all the reciepts. You could also look at it as I bought 12 packs of diapers at $8.99 which would have been $107.88 without coupons. So maybe not too terribly bad? Hopefully? Maybe if I keep looking at the savings the actual cash out of pocket won't be so terrible.

My new toy!!!
Yeah! It finally came in the mail today. You can subtract another $56.00 from the budget. But so far, I am considering it money well spent.

I am working on figuring out how to upload to You Tube. So much fun! :)

  25. 1 Crest toothpaste (#'s 19-25 were nothing out of pocket, used $3.46 on gift card, $3.00 wellness cpn, and got back $8.50 in wellness cpns.)

All of those purchases were from Kohl's, Rite Aid, and Hallmark for a total of $15.43.

Whew! Break for pics, and here is rest of list:

So if all of those work out properly, then I will come out more than ahead. I am coming to realize just how much I spend on deals though. I might have to look at really trying to budget seperately for that.

P.S. In the pic with the wallpaper, there are our 2 flooring choices. Both are real wood (hickory). I am having a hard time deciding between which one to go with. I am starting to lean towards the dark though.

Here is a link with our 2 choices next to each other. The dark hickory pictured is fairly close to the stain of the one we might choose.

So, take a peek and let me know what you think! I have until tomorrow--Monday to choose!

Month of November Budget Challenge
After watching Esther's monthly budget challenge, I have decided to try it out this month. With winter fast approaching, there is no better time than to start trying to watch the spending. I have decided to set my amount at $300.00 for the month and Caleb's for $100.00. I will include all "deals" and food spending in my amount while Caleb's will include any extra food or beer that he would like. Here's hoping we can do it!!!
Here is my first purchase for the month:

Trip to Walgreens included:

  1. 4 Zarbee's cough syrup
  2. 8 Vick's Sinex
  3. 6 bags of Ricola cough drops
  4. 4 Olay Regenerist face scrub
  5. 1 Olay body lotion
  6. 2 Olay body wash
  7. 6 Secret deoderant
  8. 2 Old Spice body sprays
  9. 2 packs of 2 each Olay soap
  10. not pictured were 11 caramel pieces (filler items)
  11. not pictured were 3 hi liters (filler items)

I spent $20.20 out of pocket. I used $40.20 in RR and got back $64.00 in RR!!! That was a $23.80 money maker in RR's. Too bad I couldn't get that back in cash. Oh well. I will use some of that for groceries if needed this week.

I also went to Meijer and got:

  1. 2 Sunday newspapers (for coupons)
  2. 1 case of pop for Caleb--yes, I know, horribly horrible for him but I would rather buy it and save some money on it rather than him buy it at the gas station like he has been doing.
  3. 1 Diet Coke for me--yes, I know horribly horrible. I need to kick my caffeine habit.
  4. 2 loafs of bread
  5. bananas
  6. 1 onion

I used $6.00 in Meijer CAT's that I had and a $5.00 RR from Walgreens which brought my total to $2.43. Not too shabby.

So for this monthly experiment, I am going to try to separate money spent on deals and money spent on food and see where I come out at. As of right now it is $20.20 on deals and $2.43 on food. I will try to separate the two as best I can through out the month and hopefully come in at under $300.00. Join me if you would like and see how each penny is spent and where it goes.
